As part of the UNICEF’s legislative project aiming at amending law 422/2002, YAZCONSULT’s Head of Research Department has been tasked with providing technical support for the amendment of Law 422/2002 (Protection of Children in Violation of the Law or Exposed to Danger) with the Child Protection section. This law is a critical component of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring their well-being. The tasks were executed by the head of the research department’s team, with the assistance and collaboration of YAZCONSULT’s entire team.
YAZCONSULT undertook the following key responsibilities:
- Meeting with the Ministry of Social Affairs and UNICEF
- Analyzing Law 422 and related laws: Analyzed Law 422 along with related national and MENA region laws. Additionally, promising practices from other countries were identified to highlight potential amendments.
- Conducting stakeholder consultations: Conducted interviews and small group meetings with stakeholders. Transcripts of these consultations were prepared.
- Sharing findings/suggestions with MoSA and UNICEF: Prepared a detailed PowerPoint (PPT) presentation summarizing findings and suggestions.
- Preparing a PPT presentation for Parliamentary Committee: Prepared a comprehensive PPT presentation, including proposed amendments and the suggested structure of the new law, for presentation to the Parliamentary Committee.
- Integrating comments/feedback: Integrated comments and feedback from the Parliamentary Committee into the recommended amendments.
- Providing input on draft law: Revised and provided written inputs on a suggested draft of the recommended law, ensuring alignment with the objectives outlined in the project.
